An aerator decompacts an synthetic turf surface. The teeth of two geared toothed rollers, transmit a slight prying effect to the surface. This will break up compaction that can occur in the layer of mineral and/or polymeric infill.
Decompaction is important to any synthetic turf with a layer of infill. This also includes so-called non-filled surfaces that use a small layer of mineral infill to provide stability to the players.
