FieldTurf is a North-American producer and installer of synthetic turf surfaces. The company is part of the French company Tarkett.
FieldTurf was widely regarded as the inventor of third-generation synthetic turf surfaces when the company introduced long-pile synthetic turf with crumb rubber infill in the mid 90s. The concept enabled new markets like the American Football, soccer and rugby markets to consider synthetic turf as a surface. The use of crumb rubber was hailed in those days as a solution to solve the ever-growing pile of end-of-life tyres. At the time, no real technology or concept had been developed to recycle those tyres.
