Turf Lighting Solutions (TLS) and Rhenac GreenTec, the parent company of Rhenac Sports LED, have announced their merger. TLS is best known for being the first company to introduce single-row aluminum mobile lighting rigs while Rhenac has established a reputation in LED-based grow technology for fresh produce.
The merger of the two companies should create a strong global player in the specialised market segment for turf sports surfaces.
In collaboration with the Technical University of Munich, Rhenac GreenTec AG has developed turf lighting systems that are specially designed for the growth and regeneration of sports turf. It markets this Complete Light Spectrum (CLS) technology under the RHENAC Sports LED brand. Rhenac technology has been used in the largest turf lighting systems in the world to date: at the Veltins Arena (home ground to Schalke 04) as well as at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium (home to Real Madrid). The company holds patents for these systems.
The TLS lighting rigs are manufactured by RA Aluminium AS, an ISO 9001: 2015 and ISO 14001: 2015 certified company from Norway that delivers CE marked products.
The company has a complete range of mobile lighting systems and turf management software that allows turf managers to keep an eye on all requirements relating to sports turf regeneration at all times. It has already rented and sold its mobile systems to more than 100 customers around the world and has an active global service for advice and maintenance. TLS has also participated in developing Turfpal, a turf management software in which Rhenac’s special sensor technology that enables their systems and applications to record and manage the quality parameters of sports turf at the highest level, can be embedded.
“We are delighted to be working with RHENAC to drive the future of grass growth lighting systems,” says Edd Tveit, Director of TLS. The merger with Rhenac GreenTec will speed up the switch from conventional gas discharge lamps to sustainable LED lighting. “By combining our expertise, we will open up new opportunities for sustainable grass management and provide our customers with advanced lighting solutions that optimize yield, quality and resource efficiency.”
“By merging our companies, we are responding to increasing demand. We are convinced that we can now grow faster and stronger and thus realize our strategic goal of becoming a leading provider in this market,” adds Horst Theisen, CEO of Rhenac GreenTec AG.
