TinyMobileRobot is now offering robotic line marking robots that have been fitted with a total station. The total station communicates with mirrors in the stadium which allows the robotic marker to become accurate down to millimetres and to still perform even when the GPS signal is interrupted.
Kostas Panayotis, the sales director at TinyMobileRobot, says “Working with things like this is something I have dreamed of for more than 5 years.”
“It is very easy to use and only takes five minutes to set up. All you do is set up the total station and point it at the mirrors that have been strategically placed in the venue. Everything else works like the normal linemarking robot.”
The use of the total station solution means that the robotic linemarking unit is no longer dependant on the GPS signal. “It is not restricted by anything, which is why this unit can now be used to mark inside arenas and even indoor. Places you could never reach with GPS. ”
The only time an interruption was observed was when somebody actively positioned himself between the robot and the total station. “In such a case, the robot comes to a standstill, but will continue working immediately once the person or obstacle has been removed.”
TinyMobileRobot markets its robot for marking lines on natural and hybrid surface but also for synthetic turf surfaces. “Due to its limited weight, it remains perfectly stable when it drives over and marks a so-called non-infill synthetic turf,” Panayotis points out. “Non-infill surfaces are difficult to cut the lines in which is why manufacturers advise using a robotic linemarker to mark the lines. This gives several advantages for the customers and the installers such as longer lasting fields, less waste, faster installation.”
