TenCate Grass has acquired ACT Sports and Domenech Hermanos from the Belgian carpet group Beaulieu International Group. The company has also announced a strategic partnership with the Spanish ProLiga.
The acquisition sees the TenCate Grass Group growing its influence in the forums that determine the future of synthetic in various sports. ACT Sports is a FIFA licensee, a World Rugby Preferred Turf Producer and an FIH Preferred Field and Turf Supplier. Other TenCate Grass companies that are represented in these forums include Greenfields, Tigerturf, Domo Sports Grass, Limonta, Sport & Leisure Group. TenCate Grass is also a major yarn supplier to many other companies in these forums.
ACT Sports is also a major supplier of synthetic turf surfaces for tennis and padel. Domenech Hermanos is a Spanish supplier of landscaping products.
Stronger footprint in Spain
The acquisition of ACT Sports and Domenech Hermanos comes at a time when TenCate Grass announces that, together with its Spanish installer OPSA, it has signed an agreement with the Spanish ProLiga.
ProLiga is the association of men’s football clubs operating at national level but of an amateur nature. These are clubs from the 1ª, 2ª and 3ª RFEF, the División de Honor Juvenil and the Liga Nacional Juvenil, which are not affiliates of professional clubs.
ProLiga aims to defend the interests and prestige of amateur football clubs and their leagues.
Through this partnership, TenCate and OPSA aim to provide clubs with technical expertise and support, as well as competitive pricing on synthetic turf, hybrid and natural grass football pitches for the clubs involved.
TenCate already has a similar partnership with the Spanish Hockey Federation.
For the Beaulieu International Group, the transfer marks the end of its synthetic turf activities. Earlier this year, it transferred its synthetic turf infrastructure in the US back to ACT Global, from whom it had originally acquired it. ACT Sports was retained by the Beaulieu Group at the time.
