Mexteds is looking for an Sports Turf Supervisor to join our Hutt-based team, primarily working on the delivery of our Hutt City Sports Turf Maintenance Contract. This is a 2IC role, reporting to, and working under the guidance of, our Hutt Contract Manager.
This operational role will suit someone with several years’ experience in the sports turf sector with the ability to guide and work alongside a dedicated operations team of grounds staff and our mowing crew.
You will have direct responsibility for day-to-day operations and liaison with clients and sports clubs in this varied role, covering the delivery of general sports turf maintenance, irrigation, cricket wicket and softball renovations and preparation, line marking, topdressing and fertiliser application, decompaction and scarification across all Hutt City’s parks to meet our contract KPIs.
You will be a skilled operator, with experience using equipment including trucks and trailers, tractors, aerators, line markers and rollers, and be able to train others in the safe use of this machinery and equipment.
The job involves programming and planning as well as implementation of works, working alongside the Contract Manager to deliver on projects, renovations and seasonal sporting requirements. It also involves planning for plant and machinery around operational needs, working closely with our Workshop team.

To be successful you’ll have:
- A Level 4 Sports Turf qualification (preferred)
- A clean Class 1 licence and preferably Class 2 with WTRF endorsements
- A professional, approachable manner, with good personal presentation, to uphold our company values and brand
- Ability to use digital technology for reporting, record keeping etc, including skills in Excel and Word
- Previous experience dealing with suppliers and subcontractors (preferred)
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- A strong focus on health and safety
You will need to be fit and healthy and willing to work outdoors in all weathers. During seasonal peak times, this role includes the requirement to work variable hours, including weekends on a planned roster basis.
You will be interested in self-development and willing to assist across other parts of Mexteds’ business during busy periods.
Salary will be based on previous experience and qualifications.
