SGL has revamped its data management dashboard by adding additional functionalities that enable greenkeepers to make proactive, data-driven decisions in their daily pitch maintenance. The new dashboard is available as both a mobile app and a desktop version.
The new product, called TurfBase, was developed in close collaboration with groundsmen around the world. It has been tested at several top venues including the Allianz Arenas in Munich (Germany) and Twickenham (UK) as well as at FC Barcelona.
The tool provides groundsmen with 24/7 insight into critical field metrics. It includes nine modules including a live data module that provides real-time insights into field metrics like soil moisture, PPFD, and soil salinity, a lighting module to optimise the use of grass growth lighting systems with recommendations based on live growth algorithms and transmission analyses, improving growth conditions while maximising energy savings, a registration module to compare key growth and performance metrics over different periods to identify trends and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, and an energy monitor module which offers detailed insights into energy consumption and costs for lighting systems. This module will also help grounds teams use resources efficiently and achieve sustainability goals.
Jim Buttar, Head of Grounds and Technical Operations at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, was part of the test group from the start and contributed to TurfBase’s development.
“My favourite feature is the Energy Monitor. It provides detailed insights into how much energy we’re using each month. This makes it easy to share accurate data with stadium facilities and management, showing that we’re doing everything we can to be efficient with our grow lights.”
