Based at the AcademyTraining Ground. With occasional duties at the clubs other venues.
Hours/ Remuneration
40 hours per week – Competitive salary subject to skills and experience
Job Purpose
Reporting directly to the Academy Manager the individual will control the development, maintenance and preparation of the Academy training ground.
Focus will primarily be on the day-to-day preparation of training pitches however, duties will also include the maintenance of all subsidiary areas across these sites including horticultural duties.
Candidates will hold a minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role and have an NVQ level 2 in Sports Turf and/or be aspiring to work towards level 3.
The role will require a commitment towards working weekends and evenings, as well as Bank Holidays in line with the relevant fixture’s schedules.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervision and Training:
• High level of communication as senior ground staff with key stakeholders.
• Staying up to date with industry guidance.
• Providing training and guidance on proper groundskeeping techniques and safety procedures.
• Scheduling and overseeing daily tasks.
Grounds Maintenance:
• Maintaining football pitches, lawns, gardens, trees, and shrubbery.
• Performing regular mowing, trimming, planting, and weeding.
• Ensuring the proper irrigation of plants and lawns.
Equipment Management:
• Maintaining and repairing groundskeeping equipment.
• Keeping an inventory of supplies and ordering new materials as needed.
Seasonal Tasks:
• Preparing and maintaining sports fields according to seasonal sports schedules.
• Managing leaf removal and other seasonal tasks.
Health and Safety:
• Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Conducting regular risk assessments.
Administration:
• Keeping records of maintenance activities.
• Managing budgets and expenditures.
• Reporting to facility managers or owners on the condition of the grounds and any issues that arise.
Essential Skills

• Proficiency in using groundskeeping tools and machinery.
