Scholarship for Penn State students

The Golf Course Turfgrass Management Program at Penn State has announced the name the recipients of of its Fall 2020 scholarship for the Penncross Bentgrass Growers Association and Pennsylvania Turfgrass Council Scholarship Awards.

The Golf Course Turfgrass Management is a 2-year educational program on the University Park campus for students interested in a career as a golf course superintendent. The program provides numerous scholarships to meritorious students who are either entering the program or graduating.

Students Nick Sterlace, John Dempsey, Payton Kvistad, Ryan Trudeau, Harrison Shomaker, Noah Emert, Michael Sheehan, Jacob Williams all received a USD 1,000 scholarship.

The Penncross Bentgrass Growers Association has presented students in the turf industry with more than USD 460,000 in scholarships since 1974. This year, it awarded 5, USD 1000 scholarships to new students in the program.

The Pennsylvania Turfgrass Council also supports the program’s teaching mission and also provides financial support of turfgrass research. This year they recognized 3 recipients with USD 1000 scholarships for their exceptional contribution in the field.
