After two years’ delay due to Covid, French football giant PSG has opened its new training centre. The new centre will bring together the professional men’s and women’s teams alongside academy players.
The new multi-sport centre is just 25 minutes from the Parc des Princes Stadium and is a key element of the club’s development strategy.
Where it was initially planned to cover 74 hectares, the final result spans “only” 59 hectares, including 150,000 m² of outdoor training spaces.
It has been fitted with 16 full-size football fields, of which one will be covered by a dome. Furthermore, it has 600m² of performance spaces, two dojos and more than 4,000 m² dedicated to handball. A 3,000-seat stadium will host games for the women’s competition.
Architects Wilmotte & Associés designed the new complex. Ground was broken in September 2019 and the opening was officially planned for summer 2022.
Economic driver
The centre will also help the club’s ties to the Île-de-France region. According to the Centre de Droit et d’Économie du Sport (CDES), PSG generated €243 million in total economic value for the region during the 2023-2024 season.
Money was made through local employment, tourism, and associated business activity.
