Non-fill boost for India

Indian sports surfaces installer, Gallant Sports, has entered into a strategic five-year master agreement with CC Grass, a Chinese synthetic turf manufacturer that is a FIFA Preferred Producer. The deal includes that Gallant Sports will use the CC Grass non-fill product across India for sports venues, schools, municipal playfields and commercial-leisure facilities.

Non-fill products can be used at lower leagues and non-league venues across the world. FIFA even uses this type of surface for its own FIFA Arena project. However, the international football governing body is still studying the concept for use in professional football leagues.

Non-fill synthetic turf doesn’t use stabillizing sand or performance infill but only contains synthetic turf yarns. Most concepts use two to four times the volume of yarns compared to synthetic turf surfaces that use infill. Nevertheless, non-fill synthetic turf surfaces are considered being more sustainable as they don’t contribute to microplastic polution from the infill.

India is currently aiming to scale up its sports infrastructure for multi-sport, grassroots and elite venues. Through the master agreement, Gallant Sports will leverage its deep local market expertise and installation network, and CC Grass will bring its global R&D, manufacturing scale and sustainability credentials.

“This alliance is a game-changer for us,” said Nasir Ali, CEO of Gallant Sports. “We have long believed that world-class sports surfaces are foundational to nurturing talent and delivering safe, high-quality competition venues. With CC Grass’s Leap system, we are not just offering turf we’re delivering a performance ecosystem that matches India’s Olympic & multi-sport ambitions. Over the next five years, we will transform how artificial grass is specified, installed and serviced in this country.”

From the CC Grass side, John Smith (Spokesperson, CC Grass International) remarked, “We’re thrilled to partner with Gallant Sports to bring our Leap non-infill turf to India’s expanding sports infrastructure market. India is poised for a sports renaissance, and our technology will support that journey by delivering a surface that reduces maintenance, improves player safety, and provides a sustainable alternative to conventional infill systems. Together, we will redefine standards in artificial turf across the region.”
