Schmitz Foam Products further invests in circularity

Schmitz Foam Products, producers of the ProPlay shock pad, have announced an investment in the next phase of the circularity of their products.

The Dutch producer of shock pads made from repurposed foam flakes that were originally destined for other industries like the automotive and construction industry, has acquired 25.000m2 additional space adjacent to their plant in Roermond in the Netherlands.

Here they will establish a washing location where reclaimed shock pads made of polyethylene, will be cleaned before Schmitz Foam Products can add the foam to its stock for the production of shock pads for other purposes.

In addition to ProPlay for sports fields and playgrounds, Schmitz Foam Products produce products that can be used in the green roofing and infrastructural industries.

With shock pads increasingly becoming available for re-use or repurpose, Schmitz Foam Products have embarked on a drive to also obtain this material. The Dutch company has grown over the past 30 years to become the biggest supplier of shock pads in the world, based on its philosophy of giving quality materials a new purpose.

It is anticipated that the washing facility in Roermond will commence next year.
