The French municipality of Cande has bought seven robot mowers to cut the grass of the local stadium.

People who frequent the Beaulieu Park, the swimming pool or the municipal stadiums will undoubtedly have noticed them. Seven robots mow lawns and replace traditional mowers. The municipality has 57 hectares of green space, including 7 hectares of grass.

The investment in the seven mowers was EUR 40,000. Mayor, Gérard Delaunay, justifies: “The staff can now devote themselves to other tasks. That’s 3/4 of the time of a full-time equivalent that is saved. It allows them to do more maintenance activities.”
The regular mowing has also improved the quality of the pitches. “Never had the lawns been so enjoyable to play,” said Vincent Mahot, president of the football club. Mayor Delaunay attributes this to the fact that the robot mowers are not as heavy as the old equipment they used.
The robots are equipped with high-performance warning and security systems. They use GPS technology and their operation is followed by telephone.
