German test institute Labor Lehmacher Schneider (LLS) has been accepted for conducting field tests in the Netherlands.
The testing institute that operates from Osnabrück, Germany, less than two hours away from the border, signed the agreement with the Dutch Olympic Committee (NOC*NSF) on Wednesday. NOC*NSF is the custodian of sports infrastructure in the Netherlands. It also heads the framework that safeguard the quality, performance and safety of sports infrastructure used in or offered to the Dutch market.
According to the agreement, LLS will now be allowed to test surfaces for football, hockey, korfball and handball in the Netherlands.
“Our main focus to start from will be the testing of football surfaces in accordance with the protocols of the Dutch FA, KNVB,” says Matthias Schucht of LLS. “From there, we will be happy to establish hockey testing, as we have been an FIH accredited lab for several years already.”

The testing institute also has experience in soil investigation, construction consulting and the testing of materials and subbases.
“We are the only laboratory able to test all stages from pre-investigation, control testing during the build process, to testing of the final installation, probably of products or turf systems we have certified prior through laboratory tests, according to the relevant standard.”
LLS conducts all soil and material tests in-house using its own material testing laboratory, and based on the expertise of geologists, civil engineers, plastics engineers and accredited technicians.
The Netherlands has approximately 2.500 synthetic turf football fields and some 900 synthetic turf hockey fields. Except for natural turf fields in the highest Dutch football divisions, natural turf sports fields are not tested in the Netherlands. LLS will be the sixth test institute that has been approved for establishing the quality of surfaces.
