The Greenkeeper School affiliated with the Korea Turfgrass Research Institute recently held its 28th graduation ceremony. The school has now delivered over 500 greenkeepers since 1989.
The last batch included students who enrolled in March last year. All graduates completed a one-year intensive training course. The trainees built practical capabilities by completing 306 hours of theoretical classes and 960 hours of on-site training. In particular, new trainees gained hands-on experience at Grand Country Club, Seolhaewon Country Club, Star Country Club, and North Farm Country Club.
Among the 32 graduates, 21 experienced trainees returned to the golf courses where they had been working, and all 11 new trainees successfully found new jobs.
Choi Dongho, President of the Korea Golf Course Management Association, said, “Graduates are currently working as golf course managers and executives and staff members across the country, establishing themselves as key personnel in the domestic golf industry,” adding, “We will continue to focus our efforts on nurturing professionals for golf course management.”
