A Belgian judge has ruled carpet producer Lano Group to be handed over to Belgotex. The ruling follows a court case brought by CEO Joe Lano.
The case came in 2023 to the court following a dispute about the direction the Lano Group should follow for the future. Belgotex became a majority shareholder in 2022. Since 2023, the CEO believed that financial difficulties within Belgotex were choking the Belgian producer of carpets and synthetic turf.
The judge has ruled that, in the interest of Lano Group (including Lano Sports), 40% of the shares currently held by Joe Lano and his aunt, should be transferred to Belgotex. Sportsfields.info has been told that Lano accepts the ruling. He will continue to remain CEO for the coming months, before leaving a company that saw the light in 1970, and, for a long time, was run by his father Pierre Lano.
