ICC T20 pitch report questioned

The “satisfactory” rating for the Nassau County Cricket Stadium pitches in New York during the ICC T20 has raised the eyebrows of many.

Earlier this year, the venue hosted eight matches. According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), during six of these matches, the pitch was rated as satisfactory. For the two other matches, the pitch was rated as below-par.

However, shortly after the games, players and experts vocally stated that the drop-in pitches that had been installed were not suitable for international cricket.

The ratings were delivered by the ICC match referees, as they are in charge of rating the grounds and pitches.

In addition to receiving a lot of criticism, the eight matches also delivered low scores. The average first innings score in eight matches was 107.6 and a sluggish outfield compounded issues.
