Husqvarna launches EPOS

Husqvarna has launched EPOS: robotic mowing with a virtual boundary wire.

The innovative system has been specially developed for golf courses and sports fields. Golf course Prize d’Eau near Tilburg, the Netherlands, is the first to test this Husqvarna novelty. The trial,  managed by De Enk Groen & Golf, will run until the end of September 2020.

The initial findings are particularly positive, according to Jeroen Vingerhoets, head greenkeeper at Prize d’Eau. “We are working with a Husqvarna Automower EPOS that communicates with a satellite via a reference station. The accuracy is up to 2 centimeters. The absence of boundary wires is a blessing! Aeration and regular tillage can now be carried out without restrictions. No more wire damage and therefore less working hours. “

Fabian Storm, Automower Specialist at Husqvarna: “Because the robotic mower mows the same area several times a week and because it is very light, there will be less soil compaction and we assume that the quality of the soil and grass will improve and that the turf closes up nicely.”

The reference station has a range of 300 meters and the professional Automowers with EPOS can be integrated into Husqvarna Fleet Services, the digital fleet management system.

From Spring 2021, the EPOS system will be available to end users and managers of golf courses and sports fields through the professional Husqvarna dealer network.
