To celebrate the first anniversary of its Proud to Pitch In initiative, Greene King IPA in the UK will increase its grant to support grassroots sports from GBP 3,000 to GBP 10,000.

The brewer and pub owning company considers its Proud to Pitch In initiative as a way to give back to the community. For every pint the company sells, 10p is added to a fund that supports local clubs.

“Pubs and grassroots sports both play a critical role in local communities. They are spaces people can socialise and meet new people, which is great for mental health and wellbeing,” explains Will Hemmings, Greene King Brewing and Brands Marketing Director.

The grant can be spent on anything ranging from improving training facilities, to kits, new pitches or maintenance (equipment).

“We want grassroots sports to flourish; however, we’re aware of the challenges that many clubs face, which is why supporting clubs with additional funding is so important.

“With a cost-of-living crisis affecting households across the country, it is now, more than ever, so important that we keep clubs funded – in order to help maintain and improve the nation’s social, mental, and physical wellbeing.”
