The FIFA Pitch requirements should be followed when building a football pitch in Ghana, the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Lawyer Prosper Harrison Addo says.

He further stated that for the utilization of these pitches for competitive matches, the right consultations must be deployed especially by the contractors to ensure the right pitches are made available for the youth.

Addo made the comments as GFA is urging for the construction of standard pitches to aid the development of football in the various communities of Ghana.

The General Secretary pointed out that synthetic turf football fields in Ghana must have been granted the FIFA license, something that is only issued once the field has been tested by a FIFA-accredited laboratory as meeting the FIFA quality standards. Furthermore, the field should meet all the requirements of the GFA/CAF regulations.
