The French Football Federation (FFF), together with the Federal Commission for Sports Grounds and Facilities (CFTIS) and the industry, has produced a fact sheet to provide owners, managers and users with a first level of technical and regulatory knowledge about synthetic turf.

The document answers questions like:

  • What does a synthetic turf system consist of?
  • What are the different possible infills?
  • How to choose the filling?
  • What are the different types of fibre?
  • What are the points of attention in relation to the federal regulation?
  • What are the lifespans and warranties?
  • Can synthetic turf be recycled or reused?
  • What are the new developments in the European regulation?
  • How do you maintain synthetic turf?
  • What tests are required by the federal regulation?

Many of the topics were discussed during the recent annual meeting organised and led by the Federation’s Grounds Department and the members of the CFTIS.

In a context of strong changes in regulatory constraints and environmental requirements, the federation is thus stepping up its efforts to support local authorities and clubs in the improvement and maintenance of their facilities, with a view to moving towards more energy sobriety and participating in reducing the environmental impact of the practice of football.

The factsheet can be downloaded here or here.
