The European Turfgrass Society has released its programme for the upcoming ETS Conference. This year will be their 9th conference, which is titled: “From the ground up: construction and care of modern turf systems.”
The event will take place in Athens, Greece, from 22-24 April, 2026.
The event will bring together researchers, educators, practitioners, and industry partners to explore the full lifecycle of modern turfgrass systems. Attendees will engage in scientific sessions, industry discussions, technical field tours, and collaborative exchanges that highlight emerging technologies and practical solutions for contemporary turf challenges.
Variety of topics
Topics include the evaluations of surfaces used at World Cup, UEFA and Greek Super League competitions, (autonomous) mowing equipment, testing equipment, drainage, warm season turf varieties, hybrid surfaces, aeration, photosynthesis, topdressing sand, multi-use venues and the influence of climate change.
Diversity in speakers
The programme includes speakers from various sports governing bodies, the Greek Super League, as well as universities. This includes the University of Pisa, the Universidad Politecnicas de Madrid, Valencia, University of Georgi and the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück.
Other speakers represent NIBIO, STRI and Sygenta. A number of companies will also present a paper on their particular product.
Site visits
Delegates will be taken for a tour at the Allwyn Arena, the home of AEK F.C. and the training ground of Panathinaikos F.C.
New start
The event marks the new start of the ETS Board that has managed to secure the support of several companies including Genna Sports, Hellasod and SunRise, as well as Biocore, Dennis, RM and SISIS, together with Compo Expert, Covermaster, Forgreen, GrassMax and Fito.
