The Dutch FA (KNVB) has signed agreements with eight different companies to drive innovation in turf management for sports.
The platform aims to further improve knowledge about turf and turf management.
The partners that were unveiled at the KNVB Campus in Zeist are Husqvarna, Redexim, RSI Sports Group, Tarkett, TenCate Grass, Kiwa Isa Sport, HI Sports and Skor Sports and Lifestyle.
They have all signed a three-year agreement with the KNVB.
In the coming years, they will further develop their mowing robots, maintenance equipment, grass grow lighting units, artificial turf, hybrid pitches, testing methods and equipment, data gathering devices and accessories for football pitches, respectively.
Part of the agreement is that they will share knowledge with both the association and its members. One option the FA is considering is the hosting of events or seminars.
Multiple goals
According to the association, improving the quality of the pitches can lead to an improvement of the image of Dutch football, a better connection with the international football top leagues, a fair competition and satisfied players, fewer injuries, better performance and an improved fan experience.
In addition, it should help achieve government goals such as reducing the use of plant protection products and mineral fertilisers, and, for example, climate adaptation. The KNVB is also committed to more integrated turf management. Such a maintenance programme benefits hugely from more insights into the condition of the turf as well as from improved maintenance equipment.
