After more than 20 years with Mondo Ibérica, Jesús Catón has now joined the Sports & Leisure Group to lead the development and expansion of Domo Sports Grass in Spain.
Domo Sports Grass is the sports brand of Belgian synthetic turf giant Sports & Leisure Group NV. The company is owned by Miami-based US fund Sun Capital Partners.
Sport and Leisure Group NV was founded in 1989 and produces every year more than 12 million square metres of synthetic turf for American football, soccer, rugby, hockey, paddle tennis, tennis and multi-sport surfaces. It has four production plants in different parts of the world, with the main plant and R&D centre being situated in Sint-Niklaas in Belgium. The company has a global turnover of 200 million euros and 400 employees.
The appointment of Catón heralds a new approach towards the Iberian peninsula for Domo Sports Grass. Until now, the company operated through distributors in this particular area.
Jesús Catón graduated in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences from the University of Zaragoza. He has focused his professional activity on sports management, training and specializing in commercial management, sales management and marketing in the field of equipment and flooring for sports facilities. In 2002, he joined Mondo as a product manager to manage the start-up, activation and development of the synthetic turf business unit for different sports applications such as soccer, rugby, American football, field hockey, paddle tennis and tennis. In 2018, he assumed the commercial management of Mondo.
Catón participated in the Spanish AEN/CTN 147 Technical Committee for the Standardization of Sports Surfaces.
