Danish product cleans water from 3G pitches

The Danish Technological Institute has confirmed that the LB Watertech filter for synthetic turf pitches purifies water of heavy metals and microplastics to such an extend that the water is safe to drink.

Over the last 15 years, at least 350 new synthetic turf pitches have been installed in the Scandinavian country. Like in many other countries, Denmark also had its fair share of debate about the possible pollution produced by crumb rubber derived from shredded car tires. It is commonly known that the rubber contains heavy metals and toxics.

The synthetic turf field in Nr. Aaby cost EUR 600,000. Of this, the filter itself costs EUR 40,000. The filter was fitted in the drainage system that was installed underneath the pitch.
