Chery South Africa, a subsidiary of the Chinese vehicle brand, has pledged R 500,000 (USD 30,000) towards grassroots football development in the country. An additional R50,000 will be contributed for every goal the South African national football team scores at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Chery South Africa will administer its initiative through its own corporate social responsibility programme, the Chery Fund.
The funding will benefit community football structures, particularly those that often operate with limited resources yet play a critical role in developing future stars.
According to the announcement, the support can be used for a wide variety of things, including goalposts and pitch maintenance.

According to Chery South Africa CEO Tony Liu, the initiative was designed to link national pride with tangible community impact.
“Every goal scored by South Africa on the world stage will represent more than a moment of celebration. Through the Chery Fund, each goal will help grow the support available to grassroots football clubs and the young players they serve,” he said.
