The National Sports Council of Belize (NSC) and the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) have entered into a partnership to improve, modernise and expand synthetic turf playing surfaces across the country.
According to a joint statement, the project is expected to take approximately six to eight months from procurement to completion and will kick-off with a field for the Isidoro Beaton Stadium. The stadium will receive a FIFA Quality Pro standard pitch in line with mandatory FIFA rules that synthetic turf in stadiums must always meet Quality Pro standards.
In addition, the Marion Jones Sporting Complex as well as the Santa Elena Sports Complex will also receive FIFA-quality synthetic turf fields. More synthetic turf fields will be installed in Belize City, Orange Walk and Punta Gorda while the existing synthetic turf surfaces at Faber’s Road Field and the Berger Community Field will be resurfaced.
Social development
The initiative reflects a shared commitment to strengthening national sports infrastructure while promoting inclusivity and opportunity at the grassroots level. “This landmark partnership represents a major investment in Belize’s sporting future, prioritizing safe, accessible, and high-quality spaces where young athletes can train, compete, and thrive,” the statement read.
“Sport is more than competition. It is a powerful tool for youth development, social cohesion, and national unity.” By expanding access to modern, all‑weather facilities, the NSC and FFB aim to foster discipline, teamwork, leadership, and resilience among Belizean youth, while positioning the country to host more regional and international events.”
