Biodegradable synthetic turf not off the table
Despite the European Commission’s proposed requirements for biodegradable polymeric infill, the concept of biodegradable synthetic turf top layers has by no means been abandoned. The Dutch Sustainable Sports Sector Innovation Platform recently even used the concept as a point of departure for a brainstorming session about the sports field of the future.
Amorim Cork pushes sales for Corticeira Amorim
Corticeira Amorim, the Portuguese parent company of Amorim Cork, that is used as infill in third-generation synthetic turf, has achieved a turnover of more than 1 billion euros for the first time. The profit before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of Amorim Sport alone increased by 17.4%.
AI sees fails to see logic in infill-ban
An Artificial Intelligence machine has questioned the logic behind the proposed ban on polymeric infill. The machine was asked five questions and delivered clear-cut answers, all showing that a ban on the sale of polymeric infill will not be the correct answer to balance the reduction of microplastic pollution with achieving a healthy society.
