This is a great opportunity for an individual to learn and practice a range of grounds duties and to assist the groundsman in the preparation, presentation and maintenance of the main pitch and 3G at the stadium, including site maintenance.
As an apprentice, you will get hands-on experience, gain new skills and work alongside our experienced staff.
Successful applicants will be required to complete a Sports Turf Operative (Level 2) course with Bishop Burton College.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Undertake routine preparation and maintenance work on the main pitch and 3G area, including:
– divot management
– assisting with mowing, line marking, renovation and setting out equipment
– assisting with frost protection and drainage measures
– pitch maintenance including fertilising, rolling, spiking, top dressing, seeding and spraying
– erecting, transporting and dismantling of goals
– assisting with irrigation
– helping to keep surrounding areas and ground storage areas maintained and tidy.
A typical day in the life of an apprentice Sports Turf Operative would include some of the following:
– mowing and marking out the pitch
– setting up goals
– pre-match, half-time and full-time divot repair and any pitch repairs after matches
– 3G cleaning and maintenance
– Site maintenance.
